A Caring Partnership: How Healthcare Staffing Agencies Foster Positive Relationships in the Medical Community

A Caring Partnership: How Healthcare Staffing Agencies Foster Positive Relationships in the Medical Community

Healthcare Recruiters

Great hires make organizations and bad hires break them. This is true regardless of the industry or sector, but it’s particularly salient in the medical field, where the relationship between medical staff and patients is, often literally, the difference between life and death. Per 2019 census data, over 22 million people are employed in some capacity in the healthcare industry, contributing to an industry Americans spent 4.3 trillion dollars on in 2021. In an industry at the nexus of that many dollars, jobs and lives, is it any wonder that every organization is constantly on the lookout for their next great hire?

Despite its size and profits, healthcare is an industry that is built on patients and care, not profits. To that end, hospitals and treatment centers need the kinds of staff that can provide their patients with the kind of quality care that they deserve. The relationship between medical staff and their patients is arguably the most important end-user relationship imaginable. Our mission at SMG Healthcare Recruiters is to help our clients fulfill their patient-first mission by providing them with the best, most qualified staff possible.

A healthy workplace is one where all of its members are all working towards the same common productive goal. Positive relationships between staff members are the essential catalyst of any healthcare organization that keeps it successful and patient focused. This staff must be able to collaborate with each other effectively and efficiently, across disciplines and, often, across locations. But in order to make sure that our clients truly successful, we know that we need to ensure that there’s also a positive relationship between staff members. Here are a couple ways that a healthcare staffing agency can improve relationships among your organization’s medical staff.

Trust is key to any relationship

No member of a workplace is an island, no matter how brilliant or eminently competent. In the modern healthcare industry, patients depend on a network of doctors, nurses, specialists, and other medical staff to get the care that they need. Because of this, the medical staff needs to be able to trust each other in order to give the patient the care that the patient has every right to expect. When a primary care physician speaks to a patient, they need to trust that the nurse who took the patient’s history and that nurse needs to trust the doctor that prescribes the patient’s treatment plan. If either part of the doctor-patient relationship fails, it is the patient who suffers.

The best way to avoid that kind of workplace dysfunction is to make sure that each person knows that the people that they are working with a qualified for the position that they hold. This is why we place such a premium on qualifications, relevant experience and educational background when staffing for our clients. We want our clients to know that they can trust our recommendations, but most importantly, we want your staff to know that the people we send them are people that they’ll want to work with. Without this kind of trust, dysfunction is all but guaranteed. With this kind of trust, your staff’s synergy will ensure that your patients receive the high-quality healthcare that we want your organization to be known for.

Reducing Understaffing

Our job is to get in contact with qualified candidates so that when your organization has openings, we have the people you’ll want to fill them. It’s no secret that the healthcare industry is suffering from shortages at nearly every level and position. Qualified doctors, nurses, and other medical staff are in short supply everywhere, and the downstream effects of this are felt nearly everywhere. Without adequate staffing, hospitals and other treatment centers may not be able give their patients the degree of time, attention, and care that they deserve.

While patients undoubtably suffer from the downstream effects of chronic understaffing, the medical staff are often in the same boat. Over-stress, under-appreciation, and overall burnout are a perfect cocktail for an unhealthy, unproductive, and often toxic workplace environment. A staff of 8 asked to do the work of 12 is almost assured to suffer from internal strife as overextended colleagues resent even reasonable requests from their co-workers, as they try to carry more than they are capable of.

With SMG Healthcare Recruiters, you’ll have access to the qualified candidates you need to fill the holes in your organization. More importantly, you’ll get the staff you need to fill those openings in a timely manner. If you’re dealing with a staffing crunch, you know that your hospital or treatment center has a problem that needs to be solved immediately, because your staff and your patients suffer from it every day. With SMG Healthcare Recruiters, we want to get you the help you need ASAP, so that you can go back to focusing on your patient’s care, instead of doomscrolling job sites to trawl for qualified candidates. Your staff will not only thank you, they’ll also thank each other more for simply doing their jobs, as they no longer have to rely on their colleagues to each do the work of three people.

Bottom line: it’s important, so help us help you

Ultimately, work relationships between medical staff have the potential to make your organization the best or the worst version of itself. The best organizations maintain a sufficient quantity of qualified staff members so that they can work together to successfully give patients the care that that they need.
