How Does Healthcare Recruiting and RPO Work?

Did you know that partnering with a healthcare recruiter or staffing agency not only shortens the length of time key positions stay open, but it also improves the quality of your hires? Most healthcare HR professionals and executives recognize the convenience that healthcare staffing agencies provide. However, many do not realize that the best agencies also produce better quality candidates than they are likely to find on their own, even with an excellent HR department in place.

If you’re like most business owners, you’re always looking for ways to improve your bottom line. One way to do this is by hiring a healthcare recruiter. Healthcare recruiters can help your business in a number of ways, including:

1.) Producing better quality job candidates in less time
2.) Easing the burden on your HR department
3.) Thoroughly vetting and screening candidates
4.) Filling open positions with well-qualified, experienced candidates
5.) Providing valuable insight into the healthcare staffing industry

When you partner with a healthcare staffing agency, like SMG Healthcare Recruiters, they take the time to understand your needs and develop customized strategies to attract top-notch candidates who are best suited for their role in your organization. Because agencies like ours are built for recruiting from the ground up, the recruitment process is far faster than it would be if you tried to recruit on your own.

Here are 5 ways working with a healthcare recruiter can help your business:

#1: Get Better Healthcare New Hires in Less Time

The best healthcare staffing agencies maintain a pool of qualified candidates for key positions. That way you’re never starting from scratch. When you have key positions unfilled it can compromise your quality of care. It puts additional strain on your existing staff as they work to pick up the slack. Every additional day, every extra week that goes by without that position filled, the absence is felt to a greater degree.

Unfilled positions can contribute to inertia and even disharmony in your workforce. If the vacant positions leave you understaffed, then time truly is money. The sooner you can get that clinician, behavioral health tech, therapist or CNA position filled, the sooner your business can be back to peak performance. Experienced healthcare recruiters close that gap for you, leaving you free to focus on growing your business and maintaining your high standards.

#2: Help Your Human Resources Team Do Their Best Work

When you work with an agency that provides recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) for healthcare, the qualified candidates for the position you need have already been thoroughly screened and vetted. The better agencies maintain a pool of qualified candidates for critical positions to get that position filled more quickly with an appropriate candidate. It also reduces much of the ‘busy work’ of your HR professionals.

A healthcare RPO arrangement rewires that dynamic for better efficiency. Now your HR department can focus instead on selecting from a curated list of quality candidates and move quickly into onboarding. This also means your HR team has more time to concentrate on keeping your existing employees healthy, happy and performing at their best. That’s where you really want your HR department’s attention, not continually trying to fill staffing gaps.

#3: Thoroughly Vetting and Screening Candidates

Because healthcare recruitment agencies are laser focused on staffing solutions, they are extremely adept at it. They can afford to maintain a larger pool of quality candidates than even large corporate HR departments are usually able to manage. Healthcare staffing agencies are also excellent at vetting and screening candidates for specific roles. Their singular focus on the healthcare industry means they understand precisely what your business needs.

They know the difference between a phlebotomist and a perfusionist. The bottom line is you don’t have to waste time explaining your business in detail and you get the peace of mind and confidence that comes from knowing the vetting and screening is already taken care of. The resume of an unqualified candidate never ever crosses your desk. You choose your hire from the pick of the litter.

#4: Filling Open Positions With Well-Qualified, Experienced Candidates

The vast majority of our clients tell us that not only did we dramatically shorten the length of time it takes for them to fill vacant positions– but we also provide them with a better quality candidate on average than they were able to recruit themselves, historically. It’s easy to understand why. This is our area of expertise. When you have an important need and quality really matters, going to a specialist just makes good sense.

Your clients and patients seek out your services because of your specialities and the experience and knowledge you bring. With SMG Healthcare Recruiters it’s the same. Healthcare enterprises partner with us because our speciality is filling their medical, clinical, administrative and leadership staffing needs. We also focus exclusively on the healthcare sector which makes us even more specialized.

#5: Get Valuable Insight into Healthcare Staffing Trends and Developments

Here is an often overlooked area where working with a recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) agency like ours can help your business. We can provide you with foresight and intel on what’s happening in healthcare staffing. This can put you in a better position to anticipate your future needs, preemptively adapt for upcoming challenges (rather than needing to react after they occur). The COVID-19 epidemic hit healthcare especially hard and healthcare staffing was at the center of the storm.

Clinics, treatment centers and hospitals who were already working with healthcare recruiters were in a much better position to deal with the staffing crisis that the pandemic helped create. It was easier for them to get the staff they needed in less time, even with the demand. But more than that, they had a much clearer view of what lies just over the horizon in terms of staffing trends and developments. This helps them hire strategically, not just reactively and that’s an advantage every day, not just during a crisis.

Healthcare Recruiting and RPO Empower Your Business

A partnership with a healthcare recruiter like SMG can help make sure that you always have access to well-qualified, experienced individuals to fill key positions quickly and easily. With our help, you can rest assured that the best candidates are always available to meet your hospital staffing, behavioral health and other healthcare needs. Recruitment process outsourcing (RPO) makes hiring far more convenient to be sure. But it’s about more than mere convenience. RPO makes good business sense because it streamlines hiring, unburdens overworked HR departments and almost always results in open positions being filled sooner and with better quality candidates.
